Course Conditions
The greens committee is happy with current course conditions considering the amount of rain fall (6 inches) we received from the middle of May to early June. Drainage projects completed in the past did improve course conditions and playability by removing excess moisture in timely manner. We will continue with smaller drainage repairs throughout the season in hopes to speed access to the course after major rain events. The bunker sand has been replaced on #10 back green bunker we are currently replacing the sand on #18 left green bunker. Once #18 in completed we will move back to #11 and continue with improvements there. The greens did get hit with a turf disease called Fusarium during the cool wet weather it has since been treated and is recovering nicely. Greens were sliced at the end of June this cultivation practice will be done towards the end of every month throughout the season. The benefits of slicing are; improved water infiltration, gas exchange and nutrient uptake for the greens. Slicing greens is a great tool for sustaining the greens health during the golfing season with minimal golfer disruption sadly it does not replace AERATION. The course will be closed Monday August 26 for full greens aeration and sand program lets hope the weather cooperates to make this process as painless as possible.
Conclusion
Continued joint co-operation between the ownership and the board.
Focus will be on enhancing playability which leads to profitability.
A win win scenario for all concerned.
